Würth Group Achieves Historic Sales Milestone Despite Global Challenges

The Würth Group, a leading global provider of assembly and fastening materials, has reached a historic peak, surpassing EUR 20 billion in annual sales for the first time. This achievement comes amidst a backdrop of global economic and political uncertainties, highlighting the company’s resilience and adaptability.

According to preliminary financial statements for the 2023 fiscal year, Würth Group experienced a sales increase of 2.4%, reaching 3.5% when adjusted for currency fluctuations. This achievement marks a significant milestone, doubling their sales volume over the past nine years.

Robert Friedmann, Chairman of the Central Management Board, attributes this success to the company’s diversified structure across various industries and regions, coupled with a robust business model. He acknowledges the challenges faced during the year, including ongoing global conflicts, rising inflation, and high lending rates impacting the construction industry. Despite these hurdles, Würth Group commends its loyal customer base of over four million and its dedicated workforce, including the Würth family, for their unwavering support and contribution to this achievement.

Looking geographically, Würth companies in Germany displayed positive growth, generating sales of EUR 8.3 billion, reflecting a 5.6% increase. International operations outside Germany reported sales of EUR 12.1 billion, with a modest growth of 0.3%. Several business units within the Würth Group exhibited notable sales growth, including Würth Line Craft (3.4%) and the Chemicals unit of the Allied Companies (7.5%). The Electrical Wholesale unit particularly stood out with a remarkable 10.0% growth, significantly contributing to the overall success.

E-commerce continues to be a flourishing sector for Würth Group, with sales reaching EUR 4.6 billion and reflecting a growth of 10.4%. This now represents a substantial 22.4% of the company’s total sales.

On a separate note, 2024 witnessed a leadership transition within Würth Lanka (Pvt) Ltd. Suranga Kekuluwalge assumed the role of CEO, succeeding Managing Director Rohan Amirthaiah. Amirthaiah will continue in his role until the end of 2024. Under his leadership, Würth Lanka expanded its presence in the country, becoming a leading supplier of cutting-edge German technology. The company recently celebrated its 25th anniversary milestone at Hilton Colombo Residences, with a special guest appearance by Mr. Christian Oleson, Group Senior Vice President South and Southeast Asia.
