Amana Bank expands to Balangoda with new self banking facility for customers
The bank recently inaugurated its 46th Self Banking Centre (SBC) in Balangoda, marking its first such facility in the Ratnapura District. The new centre is aimed at providing customers with round-the-clock access to essential banking services while enhancing convenience for individuals and businesses in the region.
Strategically located at No. 321A, Ratnapura Road, Balagahamulla, Balangoda, the Self Banking Centre offers 24/7 banking facilities including cash withdrawals, cash deposits and cheque deposits. The facility is expected to improve accessibility to banking services for residents, entrepreneurs and commercial establishments operating in the area.
The opening of the new centre reflects Amana Bank’s continued efforts to leverage modern banking solutions to meet evolving customer needs while expanding its presence beyond major urban centres.
The opening ceremony was attended by a number of distinguished guests and community representatives. Among them were Chief Inspector of Police Balangoda, W. D. K. C. Nawarathna, and Chief Imam of Grand Jummah Masjid Balangoda, Ash Sheikh Rashad Zaman Rahmani. Community leaders, business representatives, customers and well-wishers also participated in the event.
Representing Amana Bank were Assistant Vice President – Region 2, Azam Ameer, Branch Manager of the Ratnapura Branch, Azeez Junaideen, along with other bank officials.
Speaking at the inauguration, Azam Ameer highlighted the significance of the expansion, noting that the establishment of the bank’s first Self Banking Centre in Ratnapura District demonstrates its commitment to improving accessibility and customer convenience through technology-driven banking solutions.
He stated that the initiative is designed to support the financial needs of the local community while enabling customers to carry out routine banking transactions at any time of the day.
The expansion comes as financial institutions across Sri Lanka continue to invest in digital and self-service banking infrastructure to provide faster, more convenient and secure banking experiences. Self Banking Centres have become increasingly important in extending service availability beyond traditional branch operating hours.
In addition to enhancing banking accessibility, Amana Bank also used the occasion to support community development initiatives in the area. As part of the opening celebrations, the bank distributed school stationery items to underprivileged primary schools in Balangoda, reinforcing its commitment to social responsibility and educational support.
The initiative reflects the bank’s broader focus on creating positive social impact alongside its business operations and strengthening relationships with local communities.
