HNB General Insurance Sri Lanka’s 50 Best Workplaces 2026 recognition highlights culture
HNB General Insurance (HNBGI) earned a place among Sri Lanka’s 50 Best Workplaces 2026, becoming the sole general insurer featured on the nationally recognised ranking published by Great Place To Work Sri Lanka, the global authority on workplace culture.
The annual list recognises organisations that foster high levels of employee trust, inclusive leadership, innovation, and a positive workplace environment. It evaluates companies across different industries and organisational sizes based on confidential employee feedback and detailed workplace assessments.
In the latest rankings, HNBGI secured 16th place in the Large Sized Workplaces category, which includes organisations employing more than 500 people.
The HNB General Insurance Sri Lanka’s 50 Best Workplaces 2026 recognition follows the company’s Great Place To Work certification last year, reflecting continued progress in strengthening employee engagement and organisational culture.
According to Great Place To Work, the evaluation process is based on comprehensive and confidential employee surveys measuring workplace trust, leadership effectiveness, organisational values, inclusiveness, and employees’ overall workplace experience.
Participating organisations are assessed on how successfully they create a “For All” workplace, where every employee feels respected, supported, and empowered regardless of their role within the organisation.
Commenting on the recognition, Great Place To Work noted that a best workplace is one where employees consistently enjoy a positive experience built on trust, meaningful values, and effective leadership.
The organisation stated that it was an honour for HNB General Insurance to receive recognition based directly on the experiences and feedback of its own employees.
Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer Sithumina Jayasundara described the achievement as a significant milestone for the company.
“Transitioning from being Certified last year to becoming the only general insurance company to be recognised among Sri Lanka’s 50 Best Workplaces this year makes this achievement even more meaningful and reinforces our commitment to building a workplace where our people can thrive,” he said.
Vice President and Head of Human Resources Malsha Munasinghe said the recognition validates the company’s long-term investment in developing an inclusive and supportive workplace culture.
“Earning a spot on this prestigious list validates our long-term commitment to nurturing an environment where talent meets opportunity, completely free of barriers,” she said.
Great Place To Work Sri Lanka Chief Executive Officer and Director Kshanika Ratnayaka also congratulated HNBGI for actively seeking employee feedback and creating a workplace environment worthy of national recognition.
“We applaud HNBGI for seeking employee feedback and for the opportunity to recognise them as a Best Workplace in Sri Lanka,” Ratnayaka said.
Recognition from Great Place To Work Sri Lanka has become an increasingly important benchmark for employers seeking to attract, develop, and retain talented professionals in a competitive labour market.
For HNB General Insurance, the latest recognition reinforces its commitment to maintaining an employee-first culture while supporting business growth through engaged and motivated teams.
As organisations continue to place greater emphasis on employee well-being, leadership development, and organisational values, the HNB General Insurance Sri Lanka’s 50 Best Workplaces 2026 recognition demonstrates how investment in people can strengthen both workplace performance and long-term business success.
