New Anthoney’s Farms has been recognised as a global sustainability leader at Soy Connext 2026 in Chicago, highlighting Sri Lanka’s growing presence in responsible agricultural sourcing and the international poultry supply chain.
New Anthoney’s Farms earns global recognition for sustainable sourcing at Soy Connext 2026
The recognition was presented during a dedicated sustainability session at the flagship summit of the U.S. Soybean Export Council (USSEC), held from August 5 to 7 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. The event attracted more than 800 delegates, the largest attendance in its history.
New Anthoney’s Farms was among the companies recognised for its use of the Sustainable U.S. Soy and Fed with Sustainable U.S. Soy labels. The company stood alongside sustainability leaders from the Americas, Greater China and Southeast Asia, marking a significant achievement for South Asia.
The recognition builds on a sustainability commitment that the Sri Lankan poultry producer began several years ago. In 2023, New Anthoney’s Farms became the first company in South Asia to secure the Sustainable U.S. Soy licence, verified under the U.S. Soy Sustainability Assurance Protocol.
That early adoption has helped establish the company as a reference point for USSEC when demonstrating how responsible sourcing can be incorporated into commercial food production. The sustainability credentials of Anthoney’s Feeds, the group’s feed milling business, are also closely connected to the company’s antibiotic-free poultry production model.
Neil Suraweera, CEO of New Anthoney’s Farms, said the latest recognition reflected a commitment that the company had made before sustainability became a broader industry focus. He also stressed that sustainable sourcing and profitability had been treated as complementary objectives rather than competing priorities.
The Chicago recognition adds to a series of milestones for the company in 2026. New Anthoney’s Farms is marking its 40th anniversary this year and was also named Best Exporter in the Processed Food Category at the 26th Presidential Export Awards organised by the Sri Lanka Export Development Board.
The company additionally finished as first runner-up for Best Stall in the Food and Beverage category at ProFood ProPack. Its expansion plans have also received international backing, with the International Finance Corporation committing up to US$10 million in investment, including support from the Global Agriculture and Food Security Program. The funding is expected to help expand production capacity by up to 70 percent.
The company’s recognition comes against the backdrop of Sri Lanka’s significant role in the global soybean meal supply chain. Sri Lanka imported around 255,000 tonnes of U.S. soybean meal in 2025, making it the world’s largest containerised buyer of the commodity. The country’s animal feed industry produces close to 1.3 million metric tonnes annually, with poultry representing its largest customer segment.
The development highlights the growing importance of sustainable sourcing within Sri Lanka’s poultry industry, particularly as producers face increasing expectations from consumers, investors and international supply-chain partners.
For New Anthoney’s Farms, the Soy Connext recognition reinforces the commercial value of its long-term approach to sustainable sourcing while giving greater international visibility to Sri Lanka’s poultry and food-processing sector. It also demonstrates how sustainability standards can become part of a company’s broader growth and export strategy.
