Home Lands, Sampath Bank Private Banking, Colombo Jewellery Stores – Heritage Store, ITC Ratnadipa, SriLankan Airlines and Manjari are among the prominent brands supporting the event, which will take place on 27 September 2026 at ITC Ratnadipa Colombo.

Presented by Ceylon Gem Chronicles, Ceylon Gemlogue 2026 is designed as a platform for dialogue, knowledge-sharing and industry development rather than a conventional trade event. Following the success of its sold-out inaugural edition in 2025, the programme has expanded into a four-day experience combining an expedition across Sri Lanka’s gem-producing regions, the main conference, a VVIP dinner and a specialist masterclass.

The event, known as the “TED Talk of the gem world”, is expected to bring together leading international gem experts, policymakers, industry professionals, collectors and business leaders. The broader objective is to create a space where Sri Lanka’s established gem heritage can be connected with contemporary expertise, global luxury markets and future opportunities for the industry.

A central feature of the conference will be a Leadership Panel Discussion focused on the future direction of Sri Lanka’s gem and jewellery sector. Deputy Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Chathuranga Abeysinghe and National Gem & Jewellery Authority Chairman Prof. S. P. Chaminda will join three international experts to discuss issues ranging from value addition and craftsmanship to sustainability, education and Sri Lanka’s position in global markets.

The programme will also feature Victor Tuzlukov, a multiple Guinness World Record holder in gemstone cutting whose work is exhibited at institutions including the Smithsonian, the Louvre and the Vatican Museums. Tuzlukov will deliver a session on precision gem cutting and conduct a hands-on workshop in Sri Lanka for the first time on 28 September.

International high-jewellery commentator Katerina Perez will bring a global perspective on luxury, branding and the evolving jewellery market. With a substantial international following, her participation is expected to provide insight into how exceptional jewellery and gemstones can be positioned for increasingly sophisticated global consumers.

Peter Lyckberg, an explorer and geologist, will focus on scientific mining and the future of gemstone exploration, while materials scientists from the Mansoor family will examine developments in gemmological education. Master cutter and author Justin K. Prim will also deliver a guest session, adding another specialist perspective on craftsmanship and gemstone cutting.

The event’s international programme is intended to complement Sri Lanka’s long-established reputation as a source of fine gemstones. The country’s gem industry has traditionally been associated with stones such as sapphires, while its cutting and trading communities have developed expertise passed down through generations. Ceylon Gemlogue 2026 seeks to place that heritage within a broader conversation about innovation, education and international competitiveness.

The evening of 27 September will conclude with the Gemlogue VVIP Dinner, hosted by Colombo Jewellery Stores – Heritage Store together with Ceylon Gemlogue 2026 at AHASA, the rooftop restaurant at ITC Ratnadipa overlooking the Indian Ocean. The gathering will provide an opportunity for industry leaders, invited guests and international participants to continue discussions in a more exclusive setting.

This year’s theme, “Crafted by Hand, Inspired by Heritage”, links traditional Sri Lankan craftsmanship with the contemporary future of the gem industry. The concept draws parallels between generations of Sri Lankan gem cutters who have developed the ability to reveal brilliance within rough stones and the island’s traditional mask-making artisans, whose work reflects a distinctive creative heritage.

The event has been endorsed by the Sri Lanka Gem & Jewellery Association, the Ceylon Gem & Jewellery Traders Association and the Lanka Gem Dealers & Miners Association, organisations associated with major international gem exhibitions and industry activities in Sri Lanka.

Ceylon Gemlogue 2026 is expected to attract established figures from the domestic and international gem trade, renowned gemmologists, high-net-worth collectors and buyers, business leaders, Members of Parliament and trade representatives. Their participation reflects the wider commercial and cultural significance of an industry that remains closely connected to Sri Lanka’s international identity.

Top Sri Lankan Brands Join Forces for Ceylon Gemlogue 2026 at a time when the industry is looking beyond traditional trading models towards greater value addition, stronger international positioning and deeper knowledge exchange. By bringing global expertise together with Sri Lankan craftsmanship and heritage, the event aims to encourage a more forward-looking conversation about the sector’s next chapter.

For Colombo, the gathering will offer more than a showcase of gemstones. It will provide an opportunity to present Sri Lanka’s creative capabilities, specialist knowledge and business potential to an international audience, while encouraging the industry to build on the expertise that has developed across generations.
