CDB Launches Private Wealth Proposition

CDB Launches Private Wealth Proposition to deliver a more personalised financial and lifestyle experience for affluent and high-net-worth customers in Sri Lanka. The new offering combines dedicated wealth management with premium banking and lifestyle privileges.

CDB Launches Private Wealth Proposition with a premium World Mastercard

Citizens Development Business Finance PLC (CDB) officially introduced the proposition during the CDB September Monthly Medal 2026, held on 11 and 12 September at the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC). The launch represents a new phase in CDB’s efforts to develop specialised services for customers seeking tailored financial solutions, dedicated relationship management and premium lifestyle experiences.

At the centre of the proposition is the CDB Private Wealth World Mastercard White Metal Credit Card, developed exclusively for eligible CDB Private Wealth customers. The premium card combines Mastercard’s global acceptance with a range of travel, lifestyle and payment-related benefits intended to complement the broader wealth management proposition.

A notable moment at the launch came when the first card was presented to RCGC Captain and former Sri Lanka cricket captain Mahela Jayawardene by CDB Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Mahesh Nanayakkara. The presentation formally marked the introduction of the new proposition and highlighted CDB’s emphasis on personalised service and customer recognition.

CDB Private Wealth is structured around the individual financial objectives, priorities and lifestyles of affluent and high-net-worth customers. Under its guiding philosophy, “The Art of Wealthcare”, CDB aims to bring together financial expertise and personalised attention rather than offering a standardised approach to wealth management.

Eligible customers can access a range of privileges through the proposition, including the World Mastercard White Metal Credit Card, selected promotions and offers, concierge services, dedicated customer support and unlimited airport lounge access worldwide, subject to applicable terms and conditions.

The launch also expands the role of the credit card beyond a conventional payment instrument. Through its premium positioning, the World Mastercard Metal Credit Card is intended to connect customers with travel and lifestyle services while providing access to Mastercard’s international payment network.

“The launch of CDB Private Wealth represents an important step in how we serve our affluent and high-net-worth customers,” said Mahesh Nanayakkara, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of CDB. He said the bank’s wealthcare philosophy recognises that customers have distinct ambitions, priorities and lifestyles, adding that the new proposition is designed around dedicated relationship management, tailored financial solutions and exclusive privileges.

Mastercard Country Manager for Sri Lanka Mahesha Amarasuriya said the company was pleased to collaborate with CDB on what Mastercard described as Sri Lanka’s first World Mastercard Metal Credit Card issued by a non-banking financial institution.

According to Mastercard, the card combines the physical design of a premium metal card with global acceptance, security and selected travel, lifestyle and rewards benefits. These include complimentary airport lounge access, enhanced rewards on local and international spending and access to Mastercard Travel & Lifestyle Services.

The collaboration gives the CDB Private Wealth proposition an international payment and lifestyle dimension, while CDB’s relationship-management model provides the financial services component of the offering. Together, the two elements are positioned as a broader service proposition for customers with more complex wealth and lifestyle requirements.

CDB Launches Private Wealth Proposition at a time when financial institutions are increasingly developing differentiated services for customers seeking more personalised financial engagement. For CDB, the initiative adds a dedicated wealthcare proposition to its wider portfolio of financial services and digital solutions.

The launch was incorporated into the CDB September Monthly Medal 2026, which brought together members of the golfing and business communities for two days of competition, hospitality and networking at RCGC. More than 300 entries were recorded across several categories, with Shiromal Fernando securing the Overall Nett title with a score of 62 Nett.

The partnership between CDB and RCGC is now in its third year. CDB said the relationship has developed beyond sporting sponsorship into a platform for connecting with a community that reflects values such as achievement, excellence and enduring relationships.

The Royal Colombo Golf Club provided the setting for the introduction of CDB Private Wealth, linking the new financial proposition with an environment centred on achievement, professional networks and premium experiences. The awards ceremony brought the tournament to a close while also marking the beginning of a new chapter for CDB’s wealthcare offering.

For CDB Private Wealth, the underlying proposition is centred on understanding customers’ priorities and providing financial expertise, personalised attention, priority access and lifestyle benefits throughout their broader wealth journey.

CDB is among Sri Lanka’s four largest non-banking financial institutions and has positioned innovation, sustainability and corporate governance as key elements of its business. The company is also continuing its focus on digital transformation and developing financial solutions aligned with changing customer requirements and sustainable development objectives.
