Free Sale Letter for Pharmaceuticals is now being offered by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce to help Sri Lankan pharmaceutical manufacturers and exporters meet documentation requirements and improve access to international markets.
Free Sale Letter for Pharmaceuticals supports Sri Lanka pharmaceutical exports
The new service, introduced through the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce’s Commercial Documents Registration Division (CDRD), expands the Chamber’s portfolio of trade documentation solutions aimed at strengthening pharmaceutical exports and supporting businesses navigating increasingly complex global compliance standards.
According to the Chamber, the introduction of the Free Sale Letter for Pharmaceuticals is intended to provide manufacturers and exporters with reliable documentation that demonstrates products are freely sold in the country of origin—a requirement commonly requested by overseas regulators, importers and government authorities before pharmaceutical products are permitted to enter foreign markets.
The Chamber noted that the new service reflects its ongoing commitment to adapting trade support services to the changing needs of Sri Lankan exporters.
“By providing reliable documentation support and adapting its services to changing trade needs, the Division assists Sri Lankan businesses in managing export requirements and accessing international markets,” the Chamber said.
The Commercial Documents Registration Division has long served as a key facilitator of export documentation by issuing and certifying commercial documents required by customs authorities, overseas buyers and regulatory agencies worldwide.
Alongside the Free Sale Letter for Pharmaceuticals, the division also issues Certificates of Origin, one of the most widely used trade documents for exporters seeking preferential market access and customs clearance in destination countries.
In addition, the division provides certification and verification services for a broad range of export documentation used by manufacturers, exporters, freight forwarders, logistics providers and other participants in Sri Lanka’s international trade sector.
These services include the certification of Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Price Lists, Health Certificates, Phytosanitary Certificates, Certificates of Analysis, Bills of Lading, Survey Reports, Beneficiary Certificates and numerous other export-related documents required for international shipments.
The division also issues Surveyor Appointment Letters while supporting exporters through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Electronic Document Attestation System (e-DAS), enabling businesses to complete documentation processes more efficiently.
The launch of the Free Sale Letter for Pharmaceuticals comes as Sri Lanka continues to encourage export diversification and greater value addition across high-potential industries, including pharmaceuticals and healthcare manufacturing. As international regulatory standards continue to evolve, access to recognised documentation services is becoming increasingly important for companies seeking to enter new overseas markets or expand existing export operations.
Industry observers note that timely access to compliant trade documentation can help reduce export delays, improve buyer confidence and facilitate smoother customs and regulatory approvals, particularly in highly regulated sectors such as pharmaceuticals.
By expanding its commercial documentation services, the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce aims to strengthen the competitiveness of Sri Lankan exporters while providing practical support for businesses seeking to increase pharmaceutical exports. The initiative is also expected to reinforce the Chamber’s role as a key partner for companies engaged in international trade by offering documentation solutions aligned with global market requirements.
