NSB joins EDEX Expo Mid-Year 2026 as Banking Partner

NSB has joined EDEX Expo Mid-Year 2026 as its Official Banking Partner for the first time, strengthening its focus on youth education, financial inclusion and access to opportunities in Sri Lanka’s evolving education and employment landscape.

NSB joins EDEX Expo Mid-Year 2026 to support youth education and financial empowerment

The partnership marks a new collaboration between National Savings Bank and EDEX, Sri Lanka’s largest and longest-running education and job exhibition. It reflects the bank’s broader efforts to support young people not only through financial services, but also by helping them navigate decisions related to higher education, professional development and future careers.

The official launch of EDEX Expo Mid-Year 2026 was held recently, with NSB Acting General Manager/Chief Operating Officer Rohana Bandara Weerakoon representing the bank at the launch ceremony.

EDEX Expo Mid-Year 2026 is scheduled to take place on 5 and 6 September 2026 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in Colombo. Organised continuously since 2004 by the Royal College Union, EDEX has developed into a major platform connecting students and young professionals with education providers, employers and other organisations.

The exhibition brings together local and international higher education institutions, professional and vocational education providers, employers, Government institutions and public and private sector organisations. For students and parents, the event provides an opportunity to compare education pathways, explore career options and engage directly with institutions and potential employers.

For NSB, the partnership provides an opportunity to position financial planning as an important part of that decision-making process. The cost of higher education, professional qualifications and overseas study can represent a significant financial commitment for families, making access to appropriate banking and financing facilities increasingly relevant.

The bank offers several products and services aimed at students, young professionals and families. These include the NSB I’M account, designed for youth between 19 and 35 years, as well as NSB Buddhi, an education loan facility supporting eligible local and overseas degree programmes.

NSB also provides personal loan facilities, balance confirmation services for visa applications, foreign currency services and Telegraphic Transfer facilities, subject to applicable terms and conditions. These services can be particularly relevant to young Sri Lankans considering overseas education, where financial documentation and international payments form an important part of the application process.

Alongside traditional banking services, the bank is also highlighting its digital banking capabilities. The NSB Pay App, digital banking services and QR payment facilities are designed to provide customers with greater convenience in managing everyday financial transactions.

The focus on digital services is particularly relevant to younger customers, who increasingly expect banking to be accessible through mobile and digital platforms. By combining financial products with digital services, NSB is seeking to make its relationship with younger customers more relevant to their changing needs.

Weerakoon said the bank views education and financial empowerment as closely connected, describing support for young people’s aspirations as an investment in the country’s future. He also said NSB was proud to partner with EDEX and contribute to what has become an important national initiative.

The partnership comes as Sri Lankan students and young professionals face a rapidly changing education and employment environment. Changes in technology, international education, professional qualifications and labour-market requirements are creating both new opportunities and new financial considerations for young people planning their careers.

Against this backdrop, EDEX provides a platform where participants can obtain information from multiple sectors in one location, while the presence of financial institutions can add another dimension to the education and career planning process.

NSB will maintain a presence at the exhibition, giving students, parents and young professionals an opportunity to engage directly with the bank and learn more about financial solutions available to support education and future plans.

The collaboration also extends the role of NSB beyond conventional banking by linking financial services with broader social and economic objectives. Supporting access to education and improving financial inclusion among young people can contribute to greater participation in the country’s future workforce.

For EDEX, the addition of NSB as Official Banking Partner brings a major financial institution into an event focused on education, employment and skills development. For the bank, the partnership provides a direct platform to engage with a younger generation of customers and introduce them to financial planning at an important stage of their lives.

As the EDEX Expo Mid-Year 2026 brings together education providers, employers and students at BMICH, the partnership highlights the growing intersection between education planning and financial preparedness. NSB’s participation is therefore positioned as part of a wider effort to help young Sri Lankans access the knowledge, services and opportunities needed to plan their next steps.
