After a brief dip, gold prices in Sri Lanka ticked up as global demand and currency shifts influenced local rates.

Sri Lanka’s gold market showed mild volatility through the first week of November 2025. Prices for 22-carat gold opened at around Rs. 39,158 per gram on November 3 and dipped to Rs. 38,456 by November 4, reflecting global market corrections. However, rates recovered later in the week, closing near Rs. 39,205 per gram on November 7.
Analysts attribute the rebound to a combination of steady global gold demand, local currency depreciation, and increased pre-festive season buying. Retail prices for a standard 8-gram pawn hovered around Rs. 316,800, according to daily rates published by local jewellers and financial trackers.
Experts expect short-term fluctuations to continue as traders watch both international spot gold movements and Central Bank exchange rate policies in the coming weeks.
