C.W. Mackie PLC announced that Mangala Perera has been appointed as its Group Chief Executive Officer (Group CEO), following more than a decade of service on the company’s Board of Directors and several years in senior executive leadership.
Perera has served as a Director of C.W. Mackie PLC since April 2, 2012, and currently holds the position of Executive Director and Group Chief Operating Officer. His elevation to Group CEO comes after building a career spanning more than 26 years in marketing, corporate management, and business leadership across diverse industries in both Sri Lanka and international markets.
The appointment is expected to reinforce the company’s long-term strategic direction while supporting continued expansion across its diversified portfolio of businesses. As one of Sri Lanka’s established listed conglomerates, C.W. Mackie operates across sectors including manufacturing, consumer products, plantations, exports, and industrial businesses.
With his broad experience in Sri Lanka corporate leadership, Perera has overseen numerous operational and commercial initiatives throughout his tenure. His expertise combines strategic planning, financial management, brand development, and organisational transformation, positioning him to lead the group’s next phase of growth.
Beyond his responsibilities within the listed parent company, Perera also serves as Managing Director of Sunquick Lanka (Private) Limited and as Director of Sunquick Lanka Properties (Private) Limited, Kelani Valley Canneries Limited, Ceymac Rubber Company Limited, and Ceytra (Private) Limited. His appointments to Ceymac Rubber Company Limited and Ceytra became effective from April 1, 2026.
In addition, he serves as a Non-Executive Director of Phoenix Industries Limited, further strengthening his experience across multiple industries and corporate boards.
Perera’s academic background reflects a multidisciplinary approach to business leadership. He holds a Master’s degree in Financial Economics from the University of Colombo, a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Marketing Management from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Business and Financial Management from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka.
His combination of academic expertise and practical leadership experience has made him a respected figure within Sri Lanka’s corporate community. Throughout his career, he has developed a reputation for integrating marketing strategy with financial management to support sustainable business performance.
Alongside his corporate responsibilities, Perera has maintained a strong commitment to higher education and professional development. He currently serves as a visiting lecturer in postgraduate management programmes at both the University of Colombo and the University of Kelaniya, where he contributes to developing future business leaders.
His involvement extends beyond academia into the wider marketing profession. As an active marketing practitioner, he participates in several national-level project committees and judging panels, supporting industry development and recognising excellence in business and marketing.
Outside the corporate sector, Perera has also played an active role in Sri Lanka’s sporting community. He previously served as President of the Sri Lanka Mercantile Volleyball Federation, where he contributed to the promotion and development of both volleyball and beach volleyball at the national level.
