The summit, scheduled for 22 July at Cinnamon Grand Colombo, will feature Dr. Binod K. Chaudhary, Chairman and President of CG Corp Global, and Dillip Rajakarier, Group CEO of Minor International and CEO of Minor Hotels, as keynote speakers. The event is expected to bring together directors, chief executives, policymakers and governance professionals to discuss emerging challenges and opportunities facing businesses in Sri Lanka and across the region.

Organised by the Sri Lanka Institute of Directors, the annual summit will be held under the theme “Future-Ready Sri Lankan Directors – From Compliance to Sustainable Growth.” The programme aims to strengthen board leadership by providing practical insights into navigating disruption, managing risk and driving long-term organisational success.

Recognised by Forbes as Nepal’s first billionaire, Dr. Binod K. Chaudhary has built CG Corp Global into one of South Asia’s largest multinational business groups. The conglomerate now comprises more than 200 companies and 260 brands operating across five continents in sectors ranging from consumer goods and hospitality to banking, infrastructure and manufacturing.

During a fireside discussion titled “Future-Ready Sri Lankan Boards: The Road Ahead,” Dr. Chaudhary will present his session, “Beyond Borders, Beyond Limits: How Directors Can Build Global Ambition from Small Markets.” His presentation will focus on how boards can encourage innovation, strengthen strategic thinking and help companies from smaller economies compete successfully in international markets.

Joining him is hospitality industry veteran Dillip Rajakarier, who has overseen the global expansion of Minor Hotels into one of the world’s leading hospitality groups. Under his leadership, the company has grown to operate more than 560 hotels across 58 countries, representing internationally recognised brands including Anantara, Avani, NH Collection, Tivoli and Oaks.

Rajakarier’s keynote presentation, “Global Supply Chain and Impact on Boards,” will explore how geopolitical developments, supply chain disruptions and changing global trade dynamics have increased the strategic responsibilities of company boards.

His address is expected to examine how directors can improve oversight, strengthen resilience and position organisations to respond effectively to an increasingly complex international business environment.

The organisers believe the participation of these internationally respected business leaders will provide valuable perspectives on corporate governance, sustainable growth and the evolving responsibilities of boards in an era of rapid technological, economic and geopolitical change.

The summit will also serve as a platform for networking and knowledge sharing among business leaders, directors and governance professionals seeking to strengthen board effectiveness and organisational performance.

As Sri Lankan companies continue adapting to a rapidly evolving global economy, effective board leadership has become increasingly important in supporting investment, improving competitiveness and ensuring sustainable growth. Topics such as strategic risk management, digital transformation, environmental responsibility and stakeholder engagement are expected to feature prominently throughout the discussions.

The Sri Lanka Institute of Directors has positioned the event as an opportunity for participants to exchange ideas with internationally recognised corporate leaders while gaining practical insights that can be applied within Sri Lankan organisations.

With Global business leaders to address Sri Lanka Corporate Director Summit 2026, the summit is expected to reinforce Sri Lanka’s focus on strengthening board leadership, promoting international best practices and supporting the development of resilient organisations capable of succeeding in an increasingly interconnected global marketplace.
