The event, organised by EY Global Delivery Services (EY GDS) Sri Lanka, welcomed Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya and senior EY leaders, highlighting Sri Lanka’s expanding position in the global professional services industry and its ambition to become a knowledge-driven economy.
Held at The Lumina Hall at Cinnamon Life Colombo, the EY Global Delivery Services Milestones event celebrated directors, executive directors, associate directors, senior managers, and managers who have advanced into new leadership positions within the organisation. The gathering also marked the largest EY event ever hosted in Sri Lanka, bringing together nearly 3,500 EY professionals over a two-week period.
The scale of the event underscored Sri Lanka’s growing importance within the global EY network and reflected increasing international confidence in the country’s skilled workforce and professional services capabilities. It also reinforced the nation’s potential to serve as a strategic destination for global business operations and leadership development.
Delivering the keynote address, Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya highlighted Sri Lanka’s transformation into an economy driven by knowledge, innovation, and digital technology. She outlined the Government’s National Digital Economy Strategy, which seeks to promote AI-first operations, expand ICT exports, strengthen digital infrastructure, and position Sri Lanka as a leading regional innovation hub.
The Prime Minister commended EY GDS for its contribution to Sri Lanka’s economic development, particularly through investments in technology, professional talent, and leadership development. She said organisations such as EY play an important role in nurturing local expertise while creating opportunities that strengthen the country’s competitiveness in the global economy.
According to Dr. Amarasuriya, developing homegrown talent and future leaders remains essential for achieving sustainable economic growth. She noted that strong collaboration between the Government and the private sector will be critical in creating an environment that encourages innovation, enterprise, and high-value employment opportunities.
Speaking at the event, the Prime Minister said the Milestones celebration recognised the dedication, resilience, and excellence demonstrated by EY GDS professionals. Their achievements, she noted, not only strengthen the organisation but also contribute to Sri Lanka’s emergence as an international centre for business, technology, and innovation.
